Building a Safe and Supportive Community
ASVIOL Support Initiative, in collaboration with @unfpanigeria and @aunigeria organized a three-day project titled “Building a Safe and Supportive Community: Effective Strategies for Responding to Sexual Violence in Borno State.” The UNFPA Micro grant activity was held in the Elyakub camp, Umarari layin Bayan Makaranta community, and Gonidamgari Wards in Maiduguri, Borno State. The goal of this initiative was to tackle the high rates of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Maiduguri, with a focus on displaced women and girls affected by the Boko Haram insurgency. The initiative aimed to develop effective strategies and support services to combat sexual violence, as well as to provide capacity-building for women as community leaders.
