Safe School Initiative – Abuja​ The ASVIOL Support Initiative’s dedication to safe school initiatives is crucial for promoting a nurturing and protective environment, where students can learn, grow, and thrive without fear of sexual violence, bullying, discrimination, or other threats to their well-being. These initiatives include various strategies, policies, and practices aimed at creating safe, inclusive, and supportive school communities that prioritize the physical, emotional, and psychological safety of all students. By fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and consent for all members of the school community, these initiatives help build a safer and healthier environment for everyone. In line with the Safe School’s Initiative, we carried out an awareness program at Government Secondary School Jabi in Abuja. Topics like consents, bullying, the different forms of Sexual Violence and their physical, mental and psychological effects where discussed. The program included a self-expression art painting session where students were divided into groups and tasked with painting pieces that portray meaning, strong messages and creativity.
